Rice Belgian Waffle

Shape Chinese fried rice into a Belgian waffle, and give it a new look and new way to enjoy!

1 cup cooked white rice (adjust according to the size of the waffle maker, one cup is enough for 2 small waffles)

1 egg

¼ teaspoon soy sauce or salt

1 / 2 tablespoon olive oil or oil spray

1 tablespoon chopped green onion

1 tablespoon chopped carrots

1 tablespoon minced onion

Any type of berries for garnish

In a big bowl, beat the egg and add soy sauce or salt.

Add green onion, carrots and onions, stir well to combine, then mix well with rice.

Oil the waffle maker, wipe off excessive oil with a paper towel.

Heat the waffle pan and fill the grids with rice mixture.

Cover the pan, cook over medium low fire, for about 3 minutes. Check to see if the mixture is set, if so, turn over and cook the other side. (The waffle won’t expand, so the other side probably won’t look smooth.)

Open waffle maker and turn the rice waffle onto a plate, with the smooth side facing up.

Serve as is, with salad greens, or with some small fruits, just like traditional waffles.

2 servings
